Local Spotlight:
Established in July 1981, Montgomery County Crime Stoppers is among the first Crime Stoppers programs established in the great state of Texas.? In the last 42 years of operation, we are proud to have recovered $7,773,260 in property, $144,700 in cash seized and $10,044,604 in narcotics removed from our communities. With the promise of anonymity, we have played a role in the arresting of 2,618 criminals, 1,000 fugitives with active warrants and 3,106 cases closed.
In October of 2014, Montgomery County Crime Stoppers expanded our jurisdiction to include San Jacinto and Liberty Counties due to the growing need in surrounding communities.? Since then, we have operated under the name of Multi-County Crime Stoppers and continue to work hard to be a model program.? We have built a partnership with the many law enforcement agencies within the three counties we serve to include state, county, city, and school agencies. We are also proud to have been the parent Crime Stoppers program who developed a partnership with Door Barricade Systems, offering discounted pricing to help secure classrooms across the state.? This partnership has resulted in equipping Texas classrooms with devices to protect tens of thousands of children in the event of a threat.
Multi-County Crime Stoppers has built a successful fund-raising program to generate funds used to purchase barricades for classrooms, provide scholarships to students seeking education in Criminal Justice and children of local law enforcement officers.
Multi-County Crime Stoppers has worked closely with the Office of the Governor, Texas Crime Stoppers in paying rewards for the Texas Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives on numerous occasions. Recently, we partnered with Texas Crime Stoppers and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in paying a reward for the apprehension of Francisco Oropesa, a suspect in a shooting that resulted in the death of five people in Cleveland, Texas. ?
