John, I was raised in Greeley, Colorado, by a stay-at-home mom and a water engineer dad. Growing up in a Democratic household, I cast my first vote as an 18-year-old against the construction of a new shopping center that was wrong for our town — and I’ve been fighting for what’s right ever since.
I’m so grateful to everyone who stepped up for our campaign over the past month to help me continue that fight. It truly means the world to me. Everyone who took action — from watching, liking, and sharing our viral launch video [[link removed]] to sharing their thoughts through a survey or chipping in what they could — is an essential part of this campaign.
That’s because unlike Lauren Boebert, I’m counting on folks like you — not big corporate PACs or dark-money groups — to win this.
I know this will be a hard-fought primary, but I also know that our campaign is up to the challenge. I’m a veterinarian, a mom, and a small-business owner. Over 59% of primary voters are women, and the majority live in rural or working-class communities. The right candidate with rural roots who can speak to our district’s values can gain the traction needed to turn the seat blue.
While my primary opponent got close to defeating Boebert last cycle, he failed to get the job done. And here’s the truth — of the fifty-six rematch races in 2020, only five had a different outcome than in 2018. A fresh nominee has the best chance of winning what will be a competitive and targeted race in the general election.
It’s going to take a truly people-powered campaign to flip this seat and give Western and Southern Colorado a representative who understands their struggles and matches their values.
