In July of 1971, the Youth Suffrage Movement won a major victory by seeing the 26th Amendment ratified into law, officially expanding the right to vote to everyone 18 years and older. Then and now, young people have been the catalyst for great progressive reforms. We commemorate this date and support the efforts of young leaders everywhere who are pushing for a better world. |
Today, the march continues as young people stand up and demand decisive action on the climate crisis, gun violence, reproductive choice, and push for the protection of voting rights and equality for all.
Here in Oregon, Young Democrats play a pivotal role in moving our state forward year after year. Whether serving as party leaders, campaign staff, working in the halls of government, or volunteering to increase voter turnout, young people have been the driving force behind so many of our state and party's successes.
Please take a moment to read the Young Democrats of Oregon's mission and consider signing up to volunteer or making a donation to fuel their efforts!
