Happy 4th of July!
We can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since Senator Vance swore his Oath
of Office to serve the Great State of Ohio in Washington.
We are grateful for your continued support and hope you enjoy this roundup of
Senator Vance’s latest happenings as much as we do.

‘VANCE’S LONG-TERM PROJECT IS BUILDING A MORE POPULIST RIGHT’ (Semafor
<[link removed]>
)-- On Tuesday morning, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance rolled out the latest of his
bipartisan bills — a team-up with Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin that would
require tech developed by taxpayer dollars to be built in America.
Hours later, Vance announced that he’d slow down nearly all Department of
Justice confirmations to protest the prosecution of Donald Trump, who he said
was “merely the latest victim” of an administration “that cares more about
politics than law enforcement.”
Six months into his Senate career, Vance has surprised Democrats with his
eagerness to co-sponsor legislation and sell it to his conservative base. In an
interview with Semafor, Vance said he was working to harmonize “the very
justified MAGA impulse that conservatives never fight” with the
“middle-of-the-road impulse that this town isn't doing anything.”

‘TAXPAYER-FUNDED INNOVATIONS SHOULD BENEFIT AMERICAN WORKERS AND INDUSTRY, NOT
OUR FOREIGN ADVERSARIES’ (Fox News
<[link removed]>
) -- A bipartisan effort in the Senate is underway to ban China and other
hostile countries from manufacturing any American taxpayer-funded technologies.
On Tuesday, Sens. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., and JD Vance, R-Ohio, introduced the
Invent Here, Make Here Act of 2023 which requires all federal agencies that
commercialize taxpayer-funded research to invent new products to license only
to American manufacturers.
"Taxpayer-funded innovations should benefit American workers and industry, not
our foreign adversaries. For far too long, we’ve allowed American breakthroughs
to be offshored to nations like China and Russia – this legislation will bring
those abuses to an end," Vance said. "It’s common sense: products developed
with American taxpayer dollars should be manufactured by American workers on
American soil."

‘IF MERRICK GARLAND WANTS TO USE THESE OFFICIALS TO HARASS JOE BIDEN’S
POLITICAL OPPONENTS, WE WILL GRIND HIS DEPARTMENT TO A HALT’ (Cleveland.com
<[link removed]>
) -- U.S. Sen. JD Vance announced Tuesday that he will delay U.S. Senate
approval of all Justice Department nominees as a protest of “the unprecedented
political prosecution” of former President Donald Trump by President Joe
Biden’s Department of Justice.

‘WE LIVE IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY WITH A TWO-TIERED JUSTICE SYSTEM’ (The
Ironton Tribune
<[link removed]>
) -- The actions of the corrupt Department of Justice should stand as a warning
to all Americans: if the leader of our great nation could fall victim to such
an injustice the same can happen for anybody.
President Trump’s indictment further perpetuates the fact that we have
succumbed as a nation to a banana republic, whose elite class decides the
winners and the losers.
It is a blatant, disgusting interference in the 2024 election and demonstrates
extreme hypocrisy and attempted distraction from the allegations of Joe Biden’s
illegal activity revealed.
President Trump has before and will again deliver real lasting policies for
Americans while the woke Left continues its charade of sham indictments.

‘YOU DO EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN’ (WTOV 9
<[link removed]>
) -- All eyes are on the two-day NTSB hearing from around the area but also on
Capitol Hill.
"I don't think enough is being done for the people of East Palestine,”
Republican Sen. JD Vance said. “I think there are a lot of resources that
should be going to the people there.”
"You do everything that you can,” Vance said. “You try to shake every tree for
resources, you try to get people on the ground to put together the coalitions.”
Meanwhile, the Rail Safety Bill they jointly proposed shortly after the Feb. 3
derailment faces a bit of a delay from the anticipated June Senate vote.
Vance said: “I feel very confident we're going to get a vote in July, and then
it's on to the House."

“You had a bank that was terribly mismanaged, a CEO paying himself millions of
dollars in bonuses, and yet when the taxpayers got put on the hook, they had no
recourse...that’s a problem we’ve got to fix,” Vance said.

‘WE SHOULD DO MORE TO PRESERVE THE REGIONAL BANKING SYSTEM OF OUR COUNTRY’ (
Breitbart
<[link removed]>
) -- Sen. J.D. Vance’s (R-OH) amendment to prevent megabank consolidations has
advanced out of the Senate Banking Committee.
The Recovering Executive Compensation from Unaccountable Practices (RECOUP)
Act addresses executive accountability following recent bank failures by
strengthening certain existing authorities regarding senior executives. The
bill also requires banks to adopt forward-looking, corporate governance and
accountability standards to promote responsible management and provides
clawback authority in the event of a bank failure.
Vance said of the measure:
“One of the things that we learned from the SVB [Silicon Valley Bank] crisis
and much of the fallout is that the big banks have a lower cost of capital. But
if that leads to concentration and if we don’t do anything to stop it, we’re
going to wake up in a country that has three or four massive banks and no small
and regional banks for our financial system.
“That’s a disaster for our country. It’s a disaster for our small businesses
and our consumers. We should do more to try to preserve the regional banking
system of our country. I think it’s good for our people, it’s good for our
country, and we don’t want to be like Europe, where they just have two or three
massive national banks and no other alternatives for their consumers.”

“We can’t have a situation where five years from now, ten years from now, the
people of East Palestine still don’t feel safe in their own homes. That’s going
to take a lot of work.” – Senator Vance
