John,
How much did those hotdogs cost for your 4th of July barbecue? What about the soft drinks and chips?
Now, imagine if they all cost 30% more.
That’s exactly what extremists in the House of Representatives want. They’ve introduced a bill that would abolish the IRS in favor of a 30% national sales tax. But if you thought this was a fringe idea, you’d be wrong.[1]
In their first legislative vote of the new Congress, Republicans voted to cut IRS funding―repealing $72 billion of the $80 billion that Democrats passed last year that is meant to crack down on wealthy tax cheats and allow the IRS to better serve U.S. taxpayers.
There’s nothing patriotic about dodging taxes. And yet, House Republicans are repeatedly attacking the IRS simply to protect their millionaire, billionaire, and corporate donors from paying their fair share.
This 4th of July, chip in $4 to hold wealthy tax dodgers accountable and fight for a tax system that puts working people first.
Together, we’re fighting for a Billionaire Minimum Income Tax that would tax the wealth gains of households worth over $100 million each year. And, we’re demanding corporations pay a Corporate Profits Minimum Tax of 15% because large profitable corporations shouldn’t be able to use tax loopholes to avoid their patriotic duty.
Donate $4 this 4th of July to fight for a tax system that puts working people, not the wealthy and corporations, first.

John,
There is nothing patriotic about dodging taxes. Yet, each year wealthy tax cheats dodge $160 billion in taxes they owe.[1]
That’s money that could be going toward lowering the costs of everything from healthcare to housing for millions of working people.
That’s why, last year, Democrats passed a historic $80 billion investment in the IRS over 10 years to crack down on tax dodgers and better serve everyday taxpayers. This investment would raise more than $200 billion in revenue by increasing audit rates on millionaires, billionaires, and corporations, which had dropped by 71% and 54% respectively since Republicans slashed IRS funding between 2010 and 2017.[2][3]
Instead of making their wealthy and corporate donors pay what they owe in taxes, what did Republicans do? In their first legislative vote of the new Congress, House Republicans voted to repeal $72 billion of IRS funding. And, Republicans have even introduced a bill that would completely abolish the IRS in favor of a 30% national sales tax, which would raise the prices on everything you buy from groceries to cars to healthcare, and more![4]
Fight back against the unpatriotic GOP plan to destroy the IRS. Donate $4 this 4th of July to hold greedy, tax dodging millionaires, billionaires, and corporations accountable.
Together, we’re changing conversations around dinner tables across the country away from trickle-down economics that enriches the top 1% and toward a more fair tax system that puts working people first.
Thank you and happy 4th of July,
