Hi John,

I wanted to reach out and wish you and your family a happy and safe Independence Day. I’ve been thinking about what this holiday means to me, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you. Today reminds me of why I first ran for office, and why I’m proud to serve Colorado’s 8th district in Congress.

But it is also a reminder that the fight to build a more perfect union continues, John. It is up to us to change what is unjust, and build on the progress we’ve made. We are the ones who will continue to shape our country into a fairer, better place, and we are the ones who move this country forward.

I sincerely hope that you’ll be able to find some time for rest, celebration, and fun over the holiday. Tomorrow, we’ll be back, more refreshed and ready to recommit ourselves to the fight for our democracy, our rights, and our future.
