This holiday always brings about a moment of reflection. It’s not lost on me that our country has been through a lot since the founding of our nation.

As President Biden stated “From the very beginning, nothing has been guaranteed about our democracy in America. Each generation has had to defend it, protect it, preserve it, choose it.”

So amidst the backyard BBQs, sparklers and fireworks, we hope you take a moment to consider everything that our Independence Day stands for.

Let’s remember those who sacrifice so much to keep us safe. Let’s fight to protect the life, liberty and freedom of all Virginians. Let’s recommit to fighting for our democracy—there's still so much work to be done to perfect our union.
