Friend, the United States was founded on principles of liberty, justice, and freedom for all — but the reality is that many of our friends, families, and neighbors are excluded from that vision. Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, people with low income, and immigrant communities are often faced with barriers that make true “freedom” elusive.
At NILC, we believe in a more inclusive definition of freedom, one that empowers each and every one of us to thrive. That’s why we’re working to create a society in which all of us can:
- Live safely in our communities
- Pursue our dreams
- Access affordable healthcare
- Engage in fulfilling work
- Receive a quality education
- Live in joy, dignity, and purpose
-
And so much more.
We are fighting for the freedom to thrive for all, which is rooted in our inherent dignity and value as human beings, who are deserving of self-determination, love, equity, and inclusion.
Above all else, we believe that the freedom to thrive belongs to all of us, no matter how much money we have, what we look like, or where we were born — and we won’t rest until that's a reality.
Sincerely,
Victoria Ballesteros
