Hey there! I’m on my way back from a parade and I’m typing this on my phone, so I’ve got to apologize in advance for any typos.

I just wanted to wish you a happy Fourth of July filled with love, delicious BBQ, sunny weather, and fireworks (and as a mom, I can’t pass up an opportunity to remind you to wear sunscreen!).

And, if you have a chance, take a moment to think about what this day means to you. To me, it’s a testament to what we can achieve with commitment, passion, and cooperation.

We have plenty of work ahead of us to ensure that all Americans can equally share in the values of freedom, opportunity, choice, and equality. We won’t reach that ideal overnight. But all that matters is that tomorrow, we’re closer than we were yesterday.
