Happy Independence Day! I hope you, your loved ones, and your community can celebrate our country today. America is the greatest country in the world, and it is the honor of my life to serve as a representative for the people of Rhode Island in our People’s House.

As we mark our nation’s 247th birthday, let us also reflect on the work we must continue to do to live up to our highest ideals.

Today, I’m thinking of all those who came before us who worked tirelessly to create and sustain a country built on democracy and our shared values of freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

Let’s keep working to make our country a better place for every American. That is the promise of America: that we keep dreaming, keep striving and keep fighting for a more perfect union.
