John,
As we gather to commemorate the 4th of July, we are reminded once again that this is not a celebratory day for everyone.
While we all may be created equal, we are not all treated as equal.
The recent Supreme Court ruling striking down the consideration of race in college admissions reminds us that there is still much work to be done to correct the centuries of racist oppression in this country that exist to this day—through the underfunding of schools in BIPOC communities and cuts to essential nutritional and health programs and early childhood education that help students during the most vital early years of learning.
Today, on the 4th of July, let's take the opportunity to consider what we have accomplished as a nation—and the hard work that lies ahead.
Donate $4 this 4th of July so we can continue our work advocating for Congress and the Biden administration to take urgently needed steps towards equality and justice.

From attacks on voting rights, LGBTQ youth, education, access to health care and an adequate income, and the threatened rollback of child labor laws, we still have a long way to go before we reach President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. These freedoms were the foundation to numerous historic documents including the United Nations Declaration of January 1, 1942 and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.1
Together, we still must work towards a future where all of FDR’s Four Freedoms can be exercised by each one of us—regardless of skin color, religion, ethnicity, or gender. Together, we can advance our shared values through collective action and by advocating for policies that call for racial, social, and economic justice.
This time next year, we’ll be in the thick of the presidential race. In what is turning out to be a monumental election, we will have an opportunity to cast our ballots, and express our shared values to fight for struggling families, the poor and the vulnerable.
The policies that we advocate for are vital to ensuring thriving families and communities. Donate $4 this 4th of July so we can continue to do this critical work, together.
