Team,

Like many of you, today our team is thinking about what freedom really means in a year when we’ve seen attack after attack on direct democracy, voting, and other fundamental rights.

Extremist legislators want to limit our right to use our collective power, and we won’t stand for it. Team, this Independence Day, will you sign our petition to show extremist officials you believe direct democracy is freedom? [[link removed]]

These extremists are afraid of what we can accomplish when we come together. We’ve used direct democracy to bring home major wins on Medicaid expansion, abortion access, workers' rights, and police reform — and it’s upsetting the institution.

But that’s the point, team! If our legislators won’t put our interests first, we will . That’s why we launched our Ballot Measure Rescue Campaign and why we will always fight for people-powered ballot measure campaigns.

This Independence Day, we wanted to hear what you think: Do you believe direct democracy is freedom? Add your name to our petition so we know that we have your support! [[link removed]]

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July,
Fairness Project
