Happy Independence Day, John! I hope you are enjoying the holiday and are able to spend time with your loved ones.
Today, I’m celebrating the founding of our nation and the unalienable rights which guide our country: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Our nation has come so far since its founding 247 years ago, but we must not ignore the work that remains to be done. I’m reflecting on the tragic setbacks to equality, unity, and our democracy, especially in light of recent attacks on our rights and freedoms.
I will not sit back and accept injustice, and I hope you will join me in recommitting to the fight for a better, more perfect, and more equal union. If we stand united, there’s no limit to what we can achieve in the fight forward.
I hope you have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
Together,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
