Dear John,
It’s June! It's a month for barbecues, time with family, and enjoying the weather here in our great state.
But in recent years, these enjoyments have been overshadowed by a cultural movement that has transformed our culture. June has become the month when many of our fellow countrymen shake their first at God’s design for sexuality during what they choose to call “Pride Month.”
Twenty years ago, you were told “Pride” was about dignity and privacy.
Now, of course, we all know better.
Now, “Pride” means men in women’s bathrooms and taxpayer-funded gender mutilation surgeries—for minors. It means sexually explicit books in classrooms. It means Drag Queen Story Hour in public libraries.
Minnesota Family Council exists to stand AGAINST this cultural insanity and FOR God’s beautiful design for families. With your support, we can continue to be a voice for truth in our state. During this June and (Lord willing) for many Junes to come, Minnesota Family Council will boldly proclaim God’s truth:
marriage is between a man and a woman, there are only two genders, no one is born in the wrong body, and children deserve to have their bodies protected from gender mutilation.
Our pledge to you is that we will speak with clarity, laying out our objectives for winning the cultural contest we’re engaged in, and equipping God’s people to stand firm and take action.
To start, here are three ways we as Christians can courageously stand against “Pride.”
Before I share these three strategies, I want to ask you make June as a month in which you support a nonprofit that matches your values. It could be your church, a pro-life pregnancy center, or another group. If you choose, it could be Minnesota Family Council – our state’s only evangelical Christian group dedicated to God’s design for families and sexuality. Three Ways to Stand up for Truth During Pride Month:
Lovingly tell friends and family about God’s design for sexuality.
June is a perfect opportunity to share your belief that we are male or female (not both), made in the image of God, that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman ordained by God. If we who believe these truths will not share them with others, we are setting ourselves up for failure.
Urge your pastor to preach on biblical sexual ethics.
Every year, many churches recognize Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. In June, pastors should preach on a biblical understanding of marriage, families, and human sexuality. Don’t let your church be the only place where these issues aren’t talked about!
Pray for a great and mighty work of God.
Our culture has given itself over to darkness and wretchedness on this issue. In part, this is because of the Church’s own failure to be bold, truthful, and loving. We cannot reverse course on our own. We must repent and ask God to heal our land – and we know He delights to answer such prayers.
This June, don’t be a bystander.
Don’t let anyone tell you your values are hateful, that your church is full of bigots, that the way your kids and grandkids are being raised is antiquated and intolerant. Prayerfully stand up for God’s truth about gender and sexuality. That's the truly loving thing to do! We serve an almighty God, John – we have NOTHING to fear!
