Dear Friend,
It’s Independence Day! This is the day we celebrate our God-given freedoms and remember what it took to become a nation where all citizens are free and equal–where opportunity abounds because our leaders govern only by the consent of the governed.
May it always be so.
Today, as you celebrate what freedom means to you and your loved ones, I ask you to please consider that freedom is a heritage and that every American alive today is a caretaker of this heritage. What will you do to ensure this heritage of freedom is passed on to the next generation?
Whether you are firing up the barbeque, lighting off your favorite fireworks, participating in a parade or reading aloud from the Declaration of Independence, I hope you enjoy this day that marks what makes America great: liberty and justice for all.
As the American statesman Daniel Webster once said, “May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own Country.”
