John, Pennsylvania is the birthplace of our democracy.

From Independence Hall in Philadelphia to the steel mills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvanians have always fought for freedom.

And as we celebrate the Fourth of July this year, it’s never been more important to remind ourselves just what kind of freedom we’re fighting for.

We’re fighting for real freedom: the freedom to make your own decisions over your own body. The freedom to marry the person you love. The freedom to pray to whoever you want. The freedom to work a stable job and provide for your family. The freedom to make your voice heard and have your vote counted.

To me, freedom is what our great Commonwealth is all about, and I’m grateful to be in this continued fight for freedom and justice with you.
