Happy Fourth of July, John!

Today is all about celebrating our independence, as well as recognizing the work we've done and the work we have left to do to create a more perfect union. As we all go to enjoy the holiday and take some time off to be with our loved ones, I hope you will join me in reflecting on what it means to be an American.

This nation was built by a group of determined patriots who saw what our country could be. That vision continues to be upheld by the immense sacrifice, service, and hard work of our citizens.

While today is a day to celebrate our independence and gather with friends and family to fly our flag, we must also reflect on the meaning of equality and what we can do for our country and our fellow Americans. As your senator, I promise to continue working with my colleagues to create a better union that serves and protects ALL Americans.
