Our great country is unique in world history in recognition of the truth liberty is bestowed to each individual by our Creator and we celebrate the wisdom and courage of our Founding Fathers who forged a county that affords equal opportunity to every person in pursuit of their happiness. July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress declared the thirteen American colonies no longer subject to British rule but instead were united, free, and independent states. As we celebrate our nation’s Declaration of Independence, we are reminded how blessed we are live in such a great country! | Sen. Lucero wishes you a Happy Independence Day! LIFE Our Founding Fathers recognized the truth liberty is bestowed to every man, woman, and child from our Creator and declared such in the Declaration of Independence “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The first unalienable right listed is LIFE because nothing else can exist without first having, cherishing, protecting, and defending life! | CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Every child is a miracle, both outside AND inside the womb! Sen. Lucero personally signs and sends congratulations cards each month to the parents of newborns in our community. There were 79 precious newborns welcomed into our great community in May. LIBERTY Because the source of our liberty is the Creator and not government, our Founding Fathers understood a moral boundary exists that government cannot cross. Individuals thrive when government is small because the smaller the government the larger the individual. As government grows, relevance of individuals shrinks and so does liberty. The opposite of liberty is dependence. Socialism is the path to dependence, oppression, erosion of our individual liberty, and therefore an obligation exists to reject and defeat Socialism and any other form of government that seeks to infringe on individual liberty. | Sen. As a free people living in the greatest Constitutional Republic the world has ever seen, each of us is afforded the opportunity to pursue happiness as we define it. Zero guarantee exists any of us will ever achieve the happiness we are pursuing according to our own definition, but our Founding Fathers sought to engineer our Constitution with the objective of limiting the greatest barrier to the pursuit of happiness, government. | Sen.
