Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

247 years ago today, a group of men pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to found something truly unique in the course of human history: a republic firmly founded on the self-evident truth that all men are created equal with unalienable rights.

Their courage and their dedication to the timeless truths of natural rights and human freedom sought to provide a new answer to the challenge of tyranny in their time and for generations to come.

Today, may we remember the sacrifices that were made to preserve these liberties, and reflect on the famous words of John Adams, "I am well aware of the toil, and blood, and treasure, that it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of light and glory; I can see that the end is more than worth all the means, and that posterity will triumph."

We as Americans have inherited something truly great, and as its recipients we must now ask ourselves: have we been faithful to the vision of our founders? Have we made their sacrifices worth it?

We cannot deny the reality that a present-day train of abuses is threatening to tear apart the fabric of America; but will we allow it? Are we going to be a nation without a secure border? Are we going to let our spending and debt spiral out of control? Are we going to let radical, un-American ideologies infect our education system and our military? Are we going to allow our government to be weaponized against its own citizens?

We should not, and we cannot if we want to live free and keep this republic for our kids and grandkids.

We, as Americans must stand athwart all kinds of tyranny that our founders warned us about, especially when it arises out of our government.

There will always be tyrants; there will always be those who seek to rule others without their consent and without regard to their fundamental rights. But history shows us that we are never on the wrong side as long as we’re on the side of freedom.

Sincerely,
