John,
Each year, Independence Day reminds us that we live in a great country, founded on the principles of freedom, equality and justice. We have the right to vote, to speak our minds, to pursue our dreams. We have the opportunity to make a difference in our communities and our nation. But we also face many challenges.
You and I both know that our democracy is under attack. From voter suppression laws and partisan gerrymandering to dark money influencing elections, our right to choose our leaders and shape our future is being threatened by powerful forces that want to silence us. Together, we can defend our democracy and make it work for all of us. And that is worth celebrating. –Schuyler VanValkenburg |
