Dear John,
In 1941, to a war-weary America, Franklin Roosevelt delivered his Annual Message to Congress detailing the universal freedoms that all people deserve: the freedom of speech, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear.
More than 80 years later, as we celebrate Independence Day, we are unfortunately still fighting for these — and many more — fundamental freedoms that remain under threat:
The freedom to love who we want or identify as who we are. The freedom from fear of gun violence in our schools and communities. The freedom to make our own health care and reproductive choices. The freedom from police brutality and discrimination. The freedom to cast our vote, no matter our skin color. The freedom to live on a healthy planet.
Here at CREDO, we are working to protect and expand our freedoms through our donations to amazing nonprofit partners who are fighting for a cleaner and safer planet, protecting our civil rights and so much more — with $94 million donated and counting!
We are proud to fight for our freedoms today and all year long — and we're so honored that you and all of our amazing CREDO members are helping to make it possible.
From all of us here, have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
