Happy 4th Of July!

I would like to open by wishing everyone a happy 4^th of July.

Before I sat down to write this message, I reread the Declaration of Independence (DoI). I think it's as relevant today as it was back then. If you have not read it in its entirety, I think you should.

There is a reason the DoI is noted in the CRP's platform and principles. It is a pertinent reminder that "We the People..." hold all the power. Some may argue that we have been derelict in our duty to exercise that power.

The CRP seeks to be the instrument to give that power back to the people. We will be seen as dangerous to those with power because we are the one thing that can destroy them – true believers of what this country should be, people who truly believe that power is best when in the hands of the people. "We the People" need the power to live our lives without exorbitant governmental interference. As independent individuals, we know what is best for us.

Note the first portion of the second paragraph of the Declaration Of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

The above specifies that governments are institutions to secure unalienable rights. The constitution lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but it also acknowledges that these are among those rights, the list is not all-inclusive.

The Bill of Rights further expands on that list, but it is not all-inclusive. We have had to make changes as time has progressed, clarifying things that should never have needed clarifying.

The point is, the Government was put in place to protect our rights, not to rule and dictate "We the People" on how we can live our lives.

We, the Constitutional Republic Party, seek to return the government to this model. The GOP and Democrats will, of course, fight us tooth and nail. They have become addicted to power, and won't give it up unless we the people force the issue.

I hope you will consider these words, and think about where you fit into this picture. The cost of our freedom was paid in blood, and if we do not act to protect it, I am in fear we will have to pay it again.
