John,
For two years, residents of Atlanta, Georgia have fought tirelessly to stop "Cop City" — the proposed $90 million training facility that would tear down part of the Weelaunee Forest to build a mock city for weapons and explosion testing, helicopter landings, and controlled building burn.
Now, we have a chance to take this question to a direct vote that could let the people of Atlanta decide their own future.
We have less than 60 days to collect 70,000 petition signatures from registered Atlanta voters to get a referendum on the ballot that would let the people decide the fate of Cop City.
Can you pitch in to help us get as many signatures as possible and get this referendum on the ballot?

Activists in Atlanta have organized protests, occupied the Weelaunee Forest, canvassed their neighbors, called city council members, raised funds, and built a joyful movement fighting for a city that works for the many, not the few.
But the politicians who are pushing Cop City want to divide Atlanta and further militarize the police. They put corporations and organizations like the Atlanta Police Foundation over the needs of the people.
Time and time again, the people of Atlanta have told them that they don’t want Cop City, and yet they vote to fund it anyway.
This cycle needs to end. That's why we need to take Cop City to a city-wide referendum.
It will take all of us, wherever we're from, to help get this referendum on the ballot so we can defeat Cop City for good.
Over the next two months, organizers will need to gather tens of thousands of signatures to achieve the 70,000 necessary to qualify for the referendum process — in the process building a more educated, engaged, and empowered city. The primary supporters of Cop City are corporations that donate to the Atlanta Police Foundation, like Home Depot, UPS, Waffle House, and other billion-dollar entities that are wielding their economic power to manipulate city government.1
We think decisions about our communities should be made by the people directly impacted — not billionaires and the politicians they buy.
