Independence Day   City of Auburn, Maine. Upcoming Events   NEWS FROM AUBURN, MAINE   HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! As we celebrate Independence Day, the Auburn Police & Fire Departments remind residents & visitors that the discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited in Auburn. Please leave the fireworks to the professionals and enjoy the Lewiston Auburn Liberty Festival instead of setting off your own. They have lots of fun activities planned! It may be legal to purchase fireworks in certain parts of Maine, but Auburn has banned their use, sale and possession with intent to sell. Police officers will enforce the city’s fireworks ordinance by responding to reports of illegal fireworks possession & discharge. Residents can help by calling 9-1-1 (or the non-emergency number: 784-7331) when fireworks are illegally set off in their neighborhoods. The City of Auburn wishes you a SAFE and Happy 4th of July!   TRAFFIC ALERT: Road Closures on 7/4 The fireworks are scheduled for 9:30PM. Motorists should note the following CLOSURES: 5:30PM, the Longley Bridge will be down to one lane each direction. 7:00PM, Main Street will be CLOSED at Festival Plaza. 7:30PM, the hill on Court Street - from Haskell to Lake - will be CLOSED.
