DELIVERING TAX CUTS FOR OUR FAMILIES AND REBUILDING OUR ECONOMY Thanks to President Biden’s tax-and-spend policies, the state of our economy is bleak. Serving on the Ways and Means Committee, I’ve worked with my colleagues to create an economic and jobs package -- named the American Families and Jobs Act -- that will reignite our economy, deliver tax cuts for our families, and help our small businesses succeed. Thanks, in large part, to President Joe Biden's tax-and-spend policies, the state of the American economy is bleak. In Congress, I am committed to supporting our local pharmacies so that they can continue to keep our families healthy and serve our rural communities in the 4th District. MY ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH THE IOWA TURKEY FEDERATION IN MANSON On my second stop of the day, I met with Brad Moline, who is president of the Iowa Turkey Federation, his family, and researchers from Iowa State University to discuss issues impacting the turkey industry. In this year’s Farm Bill, I’m working to prioritize disease prevention and open new export markets for our turkey producers. SPEAKING WITH EMPLOYEES AT LUNDELL PLASTICS CORPORATION IN ODEBOLT My third stop of Tuesday’s 36 County Tour took me to Lundell Plastics Corporation, which manufactures custom plastic products, in Odebolt. I also had the opportunity to meet the mayor of Odebolt — Todd Bengford — and discuss issues impacting our small communities in rural Iowa. Manufacturing is critical to our economy in rural Iowa, and in Congress, I will continue to support our manufacturers and advocate for policies that grow our economy. VISITING WEST CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION HEAD START IN DENISON On another one of my Tuesday stops, I enjoyed visiting West Central Community Action Head Start in Denison. As a father of four, I appreciate all that these wonderful ladies do for our kids. In Congress, I’ll continue to work to deliver quality, affordable childcare for our families. SPEAKING AT A VETERANS TOWN HALL IN WEBSTER CITY I continued my 36 County Tour last Wednesday at a veterans town hall in Webster City. Because of our brave veterans, we are the land of the free. In Congress, I will continue to work to ensure that they receive the benefits and healthcare that they have earned and deserve. TALKING TO EMPLOYEES AT PRAIRIE ENERGY COOPERATIVE IN CLARION On my second stop of Wednesday’s 36 County Tour, I held a town hall with employees and management at Prairie Energy Cooperative in Clarion. Our rural electric cooperatives deliver reliable, affordable power to our families, businesses, and rural communities. I’ll continue to support an "all-of-the-above" American energy strategy that prioritizes reliability and affordability for Iowans. HOLDING A FARM BILL TOWN HALL IN HUMBOLDT On my third stop, I held a public Farm Bill town hall with Iowa farmers and producers in Humboldt. As the second largest agriculture-producing district in the nation, I will work with my colleagues on the House Agriculture Committee to pass a strong Farm Bill that benefits rural Iowa. I also had the opportunity to meet the Sheriff of Humboldt, Dean Kruger. As I told him, I appreciate his service to the Humboldt community, and in Congress, I will always back the blue. TOURING CARGILL WITH SENATOR ERNST IN FORT DODGE To wrap up my day on Wednesday, I visited Cargill with my friend, Senator Joni Ernst, in Fort Dodge. It was great to speak with employees and tour their facility. Agriculture is the economic engine of Iowa, and these state-of-the-art facilities support our farmers, help generate value for our rural economy, and grow our communities in the 4th District. ONE LAST THING: HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! 247 years ago, we declared our independence as the greatest nation in the history of the world. To this day, the American Dream still promises prosperity and opportunity to all who pursue it. From the Feenstra Family to yours, Happy Independence Day! I am proud to live in the land of the free because of the brave! MY WEEKLY COLUMN: CONNECTING RURAL IOWA TO HIGH-SPEED, AFFORDABLE BROADBAND In the 21st century, access to high-speed, affordable internet is critical to the success of our rural communities and our long-term economic vitality. Reliable broadband connection ensures that our families can work from home, our farmers can effortlessly monitor commodity prices online, and our main street businesses can utilize the technology they need to serve their customers and make a living. Gathering input from my constituents and working with our local providers, I introduced legislation that will take real steps to connect more Iowans to the internet and ensure that upload and download speeds keep up with the demands of our families, farmers, and businesses in rural America. My bill — the Rural Broadband Modernization Act — will provide grants and loans to rural communities to help expand rural broadband access, construct the necessary infrastructure for broadband deployment, and increase minimum broadband speeds in rural areas.
