Burning Restrictions for Northeast Minnesota will Lift on Monday at 6 p.m.
The DNR is lifting burning restrictions for Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties, effective Monday, July 3, at 6:00 p.m. Recent rain has reduced, although not eliminated, wildfire risk in northeast Minnesota.
The DNR will continue to monitor conditions and will adjust county-specific burning restrictions as necessary. Check the fire danger and burning restrictions map for up-to-date information at mndnr.gov/burnrestrictions. [ [link removed] ]
The lifting of burning restrictions aligns with lifting of restrictions by the U.S. Forest Service for the Superior National Forest [ [link removed] ] and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness [ [link removed] ], the National Park Service for Voyagers National Park [ [link removed] ], and the tribal nations of Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa [ [link removed] ], Bois Forte [ [link removed] ] Band of Chippewa, and Fond du Lac [ [link removed] ] Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

Stay vigilant
We appreciate Minnesotans' efforts in following burning restrictions. These along with firefighter’s quick suppression response, has helped Minnesota limit losses.
People are encouraged to stay alert as fire danger can change quickly with a few warm or windy days.
* Don't ignite fireworks near dry grasses or other flammable materials.
* If you have a campfire keep is small (3' by 3' or smaller). Always attend your campfire and drown, stir, and repeat until it’s no longer hot before you leave.
* Make sure OHVs have a spark arrestor and try to park on pavement or gravel, when possible, to avoid igniting a wildfire.
* Check current fire danger conditions at the DNR statewide fire danger and burning restrictions map [ [link removed] ] before you light a match. Conditions can and do change rapidly in Minnesota.
