Dear Friends,
Tomorrow, we celebrate the birth of our great country. The Founding Fathers declared on July 4, 1776, that America was a free and independent state. The Declaration of Independence was more than just our formal separation from Great Britain.?It was a values statement that laid out America?s defining principles ?that all people (sic) are created equal, that they?re endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.?
Today we continue to fight for equality and to defend the rights of all. On this Fourth of July, let us remember the ideals that?our American ancestors?set forth in the Declaration of Independence and reflect on how we can all best live out those principles together. Ronald Reagan summed it up perfectly when he said, ?We?re blessed with the opportunity to stand for something, for liberty and fairness. And these are things worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to.? Let us recommit ourselves today to devoting our lives to our great American values that our Patriotic forebearers established 247 years ago.
