When I saw Steve King’s latest campaign finance filings earlier this month, I had to wonder: Is he even trying to win this race?

I’m not shocked that his fundraising numbers have been low for months -- Iowans realize that his selfish, hateful agenda isn’t the way forward for our state. He isn’t getting things done for the people of this district, and that’s reflected in his fundraising numbers.

I’m proud that we, unlike our opponent, have the grassroots support of this community, and I want Steve King’s campaign to know it. As we approach our February mid-month fundraising goal, we’ve got another chance to prove that we’re all in to win this race.

I’m ready to fight for the people of this district in Congress. That means protecting small businesses, defending our farmers, and finding solutions to the problems facing our rural communities. It doesn’t mean pushing conspiracy theories or racism from within the halls of Congress.

Our leaders should bring us together -- not divide us with hate and fear. That’s why I promise to be a representative who works for all the people of this district, not just those of a particular race, religion, political party, or background.

I believe that we can make Washington work for all of us. But not if people like Steve King are sent there to promote themselves while leaving the rest of us behind.
