I’m a believer that this campaign is about building a relationship with the 10.5 million people who call North Carolina home. We should be able to count on our elected officials to listen to us and represent us, but that’s not what we’re getting with Senator Thom Tillis — who consistently sides with the shadowy groups bankrolling his campaign over the folks he was elected to serve.
John, there’s just no other way to say it: North Carolina is a battleground state this year. Everyone from national news outlets to the GOP establishment knows that the path to taking back the Senate for Democrats runs right through our state.
That’s why Mitch McConnell and his billionaire buddies are pulling out all the stops to defeat us. That’s why Trump keeps coming back to North Carolina to fire up his base. That’s why the Koch network is swooping in to try to buy this election right out from under us.
But I know we can defeat them all. The people of North Carolina are ready for change. That’s why the polls show us winning and why we’re keeping pace with Tillis’ fundraising. With so much on the line, we can’t afford any slip-ups now.
I’m refusing to accept a single donation from corporate PACs, because I never want there to be a question of who I’m working for in Washington. That answer will always be you.
