Just weeks after driving the government to the brink of default, extreme House Republicans are now intensifying their campaign to thwart the transition to clean energy, targeting investments in clean energy, green infrastructure, and electric vehicles that benefit consumers, workers, and our environment. Worse yet, they’re essentially threatening to shut down the government if they don’t get their way.
They’re not showing any signs of slowing down — and that means we can’t either, Friend. LCV is organizing quickly to mobilize grassroots pressure on Congress to reject these reckless anti-environment proposals. But at the end of the day, the impact our campaign can have will depend on members.
The absolute best thing you can do right now is make an urgent contribution today. Right now, all it takes is $5. Because this fight is so important, every contribution is being TRIPLE MATCHED through the end of the month >>
The Republicans’ latest plan would eliminate rebates meant to help working people purchase used electric vehicles, while also ending tax credits that are helping to boost clean energy and clean manufacturing. On top of that, it would end a longstanding tax on polluters that funds the cleanup of toxic chemical sites that put our health and safety at risk.
Their plan is a recipe for disaster — and completely contrary to the progress we need to make.
Right now, anti-environment members of the House think that people like you are not paying attention — that they can get away with this without a fight. Not on our watch.
LCV’s expert lobbying team is on Capitol Hill every day talking to members of Congress and their staff. Organizers are flooding offices with calls and filling inboxes with messages. We're ramping up the pressure in a major way to make sure anti-environment forces in Congress can't enact their dangerous agenda into law.
But the truth is, a fight like this is expensive — and with all the attacks on the environment happening in Congress right now, our resources are running low. The thing we need most of all is your support.
To keep our work going strong, we need to raise $50,000 before tonight. If everyone reading this right now were to pitch in just $5, we'd blow through that goal in minutes. Here's where things stand:
Thousands of people from all over the country are pitching in — some becoming LCV members for the very first time, and many signing up to make monthly contributions to help fight for a better environmental future.
Friend, can we count on your support, too? Please, don't wait until this triple match expires. Make a donation today for $5 or more >>
Thank you for all you do to protect people and the planet.
Onward,
