URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Stop the U.S. Army Corps from dredging up MERCURY and threatening endangered sea turtles with oil spills in Matagorda Bay! Please take immediate action!

Imagine being a baby sea turtle poking through your eggshell. As you race across the beach, you realize the water is COATED WITH TOXIC OIL! You’re stuck on the sand as hungry seagulls eye you from above!

Oil spills don’t just kill animals. They also have severe health impacts to people in coastal communities, including respiratory illnesses and heart damage! The people and places impacted by oil spills are never the same.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers plans to dredge a channel through Matagorda Bay in Texas, inviting more giant oil tankers and risking CATASTROPHIC OIL SPILLS in natural habitats and near many communities. There’s just ONE DAY LEFT to submit comments! Please, Friend, help SAVE Matagorda Bay and PROTECT people and endangered turtles from oil spills. Send your message to the Army Corps by 11:59pm TONIGHT!

It gets worse, Friend. The plan includes digging through an area contaminated with mercury that’s been closed to fishing for fear of human health impacts. This project would disturb the sediment and potentially RELEASE MORE MERCURY into the surrounding seagrass, oyster beds, and fishing waters.

Fisherman are fighting back to protect their way of life. But they need your help and so do the sea turtles and other marine life in the region. There’s no time to waste – we need 7,382 more people to sign by 11:59pm TONIGHT! Save Matagorda Bay!

Standing with you,
