Dr. Anan Ameri has been a constant source of support for the Arab American National Museum (AANM) long before opening its doors as founding director in 2005. 15 years later, Dr. Ameri's influence is experienced daily within the institution. Her leadership set the precedent for all to follow and was key to the Museum's growth during her tenure as director, securing the Museum's Smithsonian Affiliation—making it the only Arab American organization in this prominent network—as well as an American Alliance of Museums accreditation. Dr. Ameri's work in establishing partnerships not only grew recognition of AANM in Dearborn, but across the globe, solidifying its place as a National Institution of ACCESS.
For 49 years, passionate and dedicated women have been a guiding force behind ACCESS, beginning with Aliya Hassan's commitment to the community and continuing through the work of other outstanding advocates like Dr. Anan Ameri. We are proud to not only award her as our 2020 Arab American of the Year, but to celebrate a long and continuous line of inspiring and influential women in leadership. Join us in honoring Dr. Ameri's legacy and the work of other incredible women at the 49th Annual Dinner!
