Hey, friends!
Is it weird that I call y'all friends? Some of you I've never even met! But anyone who is a friend to Texas is a friend to me, so I think it fits. 😉
We've got lots of good stuff in the email below. Make sure to fill in your July calendars based on the monthly guides provided at the bottom.
As we head into early Fall (yes, we're thinking about Fall already!), we will really be ramping up election efforts. We're calling it:
True Texans Taking Charge! We built the army. We trained the army. Now we engage the army.
Buckle up... there's so much work to be done. Yeah, work. And it's hard. But it's worth it, and we need you. Get plugged into your local satellite location and get ready to help! What are you waiting for? Nobody is gonna save Texas for us. The good news is, we're in this together. We've been preparing for years. We're ready. No one gets a pass. No one gets to sit on the sidelines. If you think you are already an activist, you ain't seen nothing yet. More details soon.
Oh, wait. You aren't trained yet? We can fix that! Get to Granbury July 21/22. We are offering our stellar training classes -- SIX of them -- for the last time this year. Yes, the last time this year. And we have no plans to offer them in 2024. Sign up now. Get to Granbury. Make a fun weekend of it. We simply must be 100% committed and ready for Election 2024.
I'm not kidding around here. Can you tell? The time to take this lightly or as a secondary hobby is long, long passed.
Remember back in April when our Brazos Valley satellite won our attendance contest? They earned a prize party, and here it is! Wanna go? Be sure to RSVP!
I received a reply to last week's email. It was from a gal in a county where we don't have a TTP satellite. She's involved with a Republican club there, but she heard about True Texas Project from a friend in Ellis County. Now she subscribes to our emails. Something that small -- her simple email to me -- made my day because it reminded me that our True Texas army reaches so much further than those who show up at a meeting or interact on social media. There are lots of ways to be plugged in, and you guys are out there sharing information and resources all the time! The power of our numbers is always growing. Thank you! Who can YOU share True Texas Project with?
One of our scholarship winners sent us a thank you note!
We couldn't pass this up! KrisAnne Hall is in the DFW area this week, so we asked to hold a special event with her. Join us!
One of our Collin County peeps posted this on Facebook, and I just had to share it with you!
What a great response -- we should all respond with this to our legislators! Have you read the commentary from Sid Miller that he's referring to? You can also listen in to a radio interview Chris Salcedo did with Sid (cue in to the 11:45 mark). Let's make sure all our legislators know we are with Sid on this. Enough is enough!
Here's another True Texan who posted a great idea worth sharing:
A Tarrant County True Texan sent me this link: WE'RE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN. The FRB (False Rainbow Brigade) doesn't even try to hide their goal, and you know the saying, "When someone tells you who they are, believe them." I'd seen the link with that chant before, and lots of people are sharing it, but this True Texan who sent it to me actually was willing to push back, and she started crafting a plan. If you'd like to help with research on this project, please reply to this email and I'll get you in touch. We're taking score and naming names.
I love sharing tidbits from around the state because y'all amaze me! We have a big state, and it's full of great patriots. You make this work enjoyable! Keep up the good work!
Fran's Lege Update
TODAY'S MESSAGE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE NUMBER ZERO AND THE LETTER F
Zero is the number of bills that were passed in the first Special Session of the 88th Texas legislature which came to an end on May 29th. F is the grade that I'm giving to the legislators for this 1st Special Session since they failed to accomplish anything.
If you remember from last week's message, the House and Senate spent the entire 30 day special session locking horns on HOW to provide property tax relief that can barely be called relief. The House passed their 2 required bills on the first day and then adjourned Sine Die. In other words - take it or leave it slap in the face to the Senate. The Senate remained for the full time, passing their version of the 2 required bills, then amending the property tax bill to add bonus pay for teachers, knowing the bills would go nowhere because the House was not there. Each chamber is insisting that their way is the only proper way. Meanwhile, nothing happens.
Second verse same as the first? Yes - we get to do it all again! The 2nd Special Session started on Wednesday. This time the Governor is calling for "a pathway to eliminating school M&O property taxes" YAY! This is what we've been waiting for! Will it happen? Only time will tell, but at least the Governor is using the language - ELIMINATE PROPERTY TAXES!
Contact your own Senators and Representatives as well as LG Patrick and Speaker Phelan. Tell them it's time to stop acting like petulant children and find common ground.
Contact your Rep and Senator about supporting Rep. Leo-Wilson's HB52 to eliminate property taxes.
Start saving now and planning to support good candidates who will challenge the status quo in Austin.
We kick off July with a week full of social activities! You can always see our upcoming events by checking the Events page at this linkbut below is a complete list of the week ahead.

For Texas, Julie McCarty, CEO on behalf of the True Texas team
PS. Here's some food for thought... In today's economy, do folks need to wait longer to retire in order to help their loved ones in the next generation? It's an interesting read (just a few paragraphs), also sent to me by a fellow True Texan!
