Yesterday I was so proud to join thousands of people celebrating Seattle Pride.

And I did it as the proud mother of a gender non-conforming child.



As a mother, I could not be more thankful to see so much support and love for this community.

But truly supporting our LGBTQ friends and family requires more than just one single day, or month, of marching and celebrating. We have to show up EVERY day to fight for equality and justice.

You and I both know that we've made incredible progress for equality -- the amount of love and excitement yesterday was inspriring!

But we can't ignore the fact that Donald Trump and Republicans are trying to rip away the rights of LGBTQ Americans everywhere.

Their efforts to bring our country back to the dark ages and deny people their dignity and humanity because of who they are or who they love must be stopped.
