Clinic, physicians challenge revised North Dakota abortion laws in ongoing lawsuit -- AP News

South Carolina: In January, the SC Supreme Court struck down restrictions on abortion early in pregnancy, asserting that these measures violated the right to privacy enshrined in the state constitution . However, only months later, extreme lawmakers passed a new law imposing a ban on abortion. A judge has temporarily halted the implementation of this law, another showdown before the state Supreme Court looms on the horizon.

North Carolina: Reproductive rights groups are suing their state legislature to overturn various abortion restrictions. The lawsuit centers on North Carolina's 20-week abortion ban, with limited exceptions for maternal health or life. The lawsuit asserts these restrictions burden an individual's freedoms and violates reproductive autonomy and the doctor-patient relationship.

North Dakota: A lawsuit has been filed challenging the legality of the near-total abortion ban established by the state's Republican-led legislature. The statute has no exceptions for rape, incest, or severe fetal defects. According to the lawsuit, the ban blatantly opposes the fundamental freedom to abortion.

It is imperative that we strengthen our efforts to challenge gerrymanderers across the country and hold extreme lawmakers accountable. This accountability is especially critical when they feel they can disregard their commitment to uphold the principles of bodily autonomy and the right to make personal healthcare decisions.
