Dan Lipinski: Voted against Obamacare (the only Democrat in Illinois to vote NO). Marie Newman: Believes health care is a fundamental right and will fight for Medicare for All.
Lipinski: Actively working with Republicans to petition the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Marie: Unequivocally supports reproductive freedom and a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions.
Lipinski: Voted against Dreamers and called Trump a “champion on immigration reform.” Marie: Supports comprehensive immigration reform that protects Dreamers from deportation and ends the humanitarian crisis at the border.
Lipinski: Supported a budget that included cuts to Social Security & Medicare. Marie: Will fight to preserve our social safety nets and work to pass Universal Child Care and paid family leave.
Lipinski: Voted against overtime pay and against a $15/hour minimum wage. Marie: Supports a $15/hour minimum wage and efforts to strengthen organized labor.
Lipinski: Takes big donations from fossil fuel interests and voted for the Keystone XL pipeline. Marie: Endorses the Green New Deal and its job creation measures and is backed by Sierra Club and the Sunrise Movement.
Lipinski: Simply doesn’t have a plan to address the higher education cost burden. Marie: Will cancel student debt and expand access to colleges.
Lipinski: Rated the most anti-LGBTQ Democrat in Congress and still opposes marriage equality. Marie: A longtime champion of LGBTQ rights who believes all discrimination should be fought tirelessly.
Lipinski: Funds his campaign with PAC money and special-interest cash including taking money from outside groups funded by Republicans. Marie: Refuses to take money from corporate PACs and is funded primarily through individual grassroots donations.
