Lesko Introduces Bill to Prevent Higher Costs for Air Conditioners, Heat Pumps, and Furnaces

I introduced the SMART Energy Efficiency Standards Act to amend the date that furnace, central air conditioner, and heat pump manufacturers must comply with regional energy efficiency standards from the date of installation to the date of manufacture. Regional standards created by the Department of Energy set up two different compliance dates, which created unnecessary confusion and burdened distributors, who were left with unusable products. While our nation is facing supply chain and cost of living crises, we should not be making it harder for consumers to obtain appliances. I am introducing this legislation to protect American manufacturers from burdensome regulations and ensure consumers have the appliances they need in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost.

Lesko Introduces Bill to Deter States from Providing Driver's Licenses to Illegal Immigrants

I introduced the Red Light Act to withhold federal highway funds from states that provide driver’s licenses or identification cards to illegal immigrants. Our nation is dealing with the worst border crisis on record, yet some states have refused to address this crisis, and instead have provided illegal immigrants driver’s licenses and identification cards. With this bill, I am working to hold these states accountable for their disregard for our nation’s immigration laws by ensuring that states that ignore our laws are not rewarded with federal funding for highways.

GET THE FACTS: House Republicans' Victories for the American People

Since January 2023, when Republicans took over the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, we have been hard at work passing legislation to stand up against the Biden Administration's failed agenda. In just the first week, we passed legislation to rescind funding for President Biden's army of 87,000 IRS agents. House Republicans also passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act to unleash American energy independence and lower gasoline and energy prices for families. I was proud that my legislation to condemn President Biden's cancelation of the Keystone XL pipeline was included in this important package. We also passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act to reinstate President Trump's successful Remain in Mexico policy and restore security to our southern border. House Republicans are now the party of parents, and that is why we passed H.R. 5, the Parents' Bill of Rights, to ensure parents have a say in their kids' education. House Republicans also worked to end the national emergency for COVID-19 and block Washington, D.C.'s soft-on-crime policies. Both of these bills were signed into law by the president. We also recently passed my Save Our Gas Stoves Act and Rep. Kelly Armstrong's (R-ND-AL) Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act to stop the Biden Administration's war on Americans' gas stoves and protect consumer choice.
