It’s almost amazing how brazen the anti-abortion Republicans have become.
Overturning Roe v. Wade was not enough. Now they are seeking to control women’s reproductive rights everywhere in the country with a nationwide ban on abortion.
The position is extreme, but this is the Republican mainstream. Their proposed abortion ban would dictate personal healthcare decisions all across the country that rightfully belong to every woman individually, in consultation with her doctor.
This legislation would strip women of their autonomy and their right to make decisions about their own bodies, in every state in the country, regardless of how strong their state’s pro-choice majority may be.
Sign the petition today and let your Congresspersons know: Reproductive rights are human rights. Firmly reject the nationwide abortion ban.
Intentionally timed on the anniversary of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, this is a political move, but its impact would be far reaching -- an extraordinary over-reach, actually. It would put marginalized communities at further risk, as it would expand the dangers to women’s health and limit opportunities nationwide.
Most Americans object to a nationwide abortion ban. But with the Supreme Court behind them, the Republicans are loading up the bases and swinging for the fences.
Meanwhile, as they chip away at fundamental rights, one state at a time, the Republicans aim to limit freedoms incrementally to the point where their nationwide ban could become the law of the land.
