This week Senate Republicans blocked Mark's commonsense election security bill from being voted on yet again. Mark's Foreign Influence Reporting in Elections (FIRE) Act is simple legislation: Instead of saying "thank you" when a foreign power offers you dirt on a political opponent, the FIRE Act would require presidential campaigns to report any contact from foreign powers to the FBI.

Nothing will stop Donald Trump from continuing to seek foreign assistance for his re-election this year.

The Senate essentially gave him their blessing to continue asking foreign leaders to help him get re-elected when they acquitted him in his impeachment trial. Some senators say they “think,” or (even less optimistically) “hope” he understands his behavior was wrong. He doesn’t.

Sure enough, Donald Trump continues to insist he’s done nothing wrong. This turn of events understandably makes many Americans even more concerned than they already were about the future of free and fair elections — the cornerstone of our democracy.

Mark has been the strongest advocate for election security in Congress, introducing bills to protect the integrity of our elections from voter registration through to election night reporting. Unfortunately, these measures have been blocked by Republicans in the Senate.
