I don’t usually email you this late in the evening, John, but this couldn’t wait until morning.

Defend Democracy PAC’s second end-of-quarter finance deadline is in just four hours, and we haven’t yet hit the goal we set back in April.

We still need to raise $2,177 to hit our end-of-quarter goal. I know it’s a big ask, but I’m hopeful that this team will step up and help us chip away at that number. Will you rush $25 right away?

I know what you’re thinking: Why does this deadline matter so much?

It all comes down to national Republicans’ long game to rip away the progress Virginia has made and turn it back into a reliable Republican state. These lower-turnout, off-year elections are a golden opportunity for the GOP to cement their far-right majority in Richmond.

Their strategy is to invest millions of dollars in right-wing candidates in races from School Board to State Senate. They’ll succeed if we get complacent.

Every time we miss a benchmark before a deadline like this, the opening for the GOP to overtake our narrow State Senate majority widens.

For the sake of abortion rights, public education, healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights, and, above all, our democracy, I’m imploring you to help Defend Democracy PAC provide support to Democratic candidates across Virginia.
