Democracy in Action

This week, I was so proud to help some great precinct committeemen -- the backbone of our party -- put democracy in action!

We headed up to Marion in Grant County to hold a caucus to elect a new state representative for House District 31, with the resignation of former State Rep. Kevin Mahan. And I'm really excited to share with you that I'm confident that the district's pick to replace him, State Rep.-elect Ann Vermillion, will continue Rep. Mahan's (and, really, Republicans') tradition of delivering results.

Rep.- elect Vermillion graduated from Butler University, and then came back home. She built her career as administrative director of Marion General Hospital, and was successful at decreasing the number of opioid prescriptions written. I know she'll be a great partner to Governor Holcomb as he works to help more Hoosiers recover from the state's drug crisis.

Thanks to our great precinct committeemen for coming out on Tuesday, and to our county chairs in Blackford Delaware, Grant, and Wells counties! It's because of you that our state and our Republican Party continue to deliver results for Hoosiers each and every day!

Governor Holcomb's Week That Was

Indiana: More Innovation & More Jobs!

Governor Eric Holcomb continues Putting People First -- making Indiana a leader in innovation and attracting record job commitments. And it happened again this week!

California-based insurance exchange company eHealth announced on Monday that it plans to locate its eastern headquarters in Indiana. The company plans to invest more than $10 million into a new headquarters here and create 500 new, high-wage jobs. Exciting stuff!

On top of that, this week Governor Holcomb joined Purdue University as it hosted The National Defense Industrial Association for its its inaugural Hypersonics Capabilities Conference. Hypersonic weapons are able to travel faster than the speed of sound, and are an important innovation that Indiana can lead.

Governor Holcomb said: "Hypersonics are Indiana's number one, top defense priority. We are exactly the kind of business-friendly state that is needed to expand the required research and development."

Under Governor Eric Holcomb's leadership, we continue to be the envy of the nation, not just in job creation, but in innovation as well.

Thank you, Dan Coats!

This week, our fellow Hoosier and former U.S. Senator Dan Coats announced he will be stepping down as Director of National Intelligence after nearly two years of serving in the Trump Administration.

Dan Coats has a track record of distinguished service -- serving Hoosiers in the U.S. House of Representatives for eight years, then putting in 18 years of service in the U.S. Senate, and also serving as our nation's ambassador to Germany.

He has been one of many Hoosiers to step up and serve not only our great state, but our nation -- and to show them the Indiana Way! Thank you, Dan Coats, for you service to our state and our country!
It's the Great Indiana State Fair!
