We have exactly 12 weeks to go until early voting begins Sept. 22 in our race for the 30th District of the Virginia state Senate. This seat is one of seven toss-up seats to determine majority control and the 20th-most Democratic seat out of 40 seats, so it's essential for us to win.
During the last two days, we've seen the Supreme Court of the United States twice fail students who need a hand up as well as LGBTQ+ Americans who don't want to be treated as second-class citizens by for-profit business owners denying us service.
When the federal government does the wrong thing, then it's all up to us in the states to pass policies that take care of our constituents.
I'm running to continue my work of making Virginia a more inclusive commonwealth so no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship if you do or who you love, you're welcomed, celebrated, respected and protected here because of who you are, not despite.
I'm running to protect our rights -- civil rights, voting rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, workers' rights... the list goes on -- as well as the environment and lives free from gun violence.
I'm running to deliver results for my lifelong home community of western Prince William County and greater Manassas by building on my record of passing 41 of my bills into law, all with bipartisan support, including 12 to feed hungry kids.
I'm running to fix our roads, which is why in January we secured more than $33 million to do just that for Rollins Ford Road and Route 28 right here in the district.
