From Detroit to Palestine, Rashida is leading the fight in Congress for human rights.
Just this week, Rashida led a letter to the Biden administration, joined by 18 of her colleagues, in urging the administration to reject Israel’s request for participation in the Visa Waiver Program. Israel continually denies travel visas to Arab Americans, Palestinian Americans, and those who advocate for Palestinian rights. As the letter states:
"The Visa Waiver Program statutorily requires 'reciprocal privileges to citizens and nationals of the United States.' The reciprocity requirement cannot be met until equal treatment and freedom of travel is guaranteed for all U.S. citizens regardless of national origin, ethnicity, or religion. Israel’s continuous discrimination and mistreatment of Arab Americans, including Palestinian Americans, and others espousing support for Palestinian human rights, seeking to enter the country precludes their participation."
In fact, in 2019, Rashida was denied entry into Palestine by the Israeli government because of her support of Palestinian rights―denying Rashida the right to visit her sity (grandmother), for what would likely have been the last time.
Today marks an important day for Rashida’s re-election campaign. Tonight at midnight we’ll close the books on a critical fundraising deadline―reporting on how much our campaign has raised and spent, and how much cash-on-hand we have available to take on the Super PACs and special interests who want to maintain the unjust status quo.

Last year, an AIPAC-aligned Super PAC spent more than $1 million in mailers and TV and digital ads in an attempt to defeat Rashida and attack her record of fighting for her district.
Rashida regularly drafts legislation in partnership with her residents. Just this month, Rashida re-introduced her Prohibit Auto Insurance Discrimination Act (PAID Act), to stop insurance companies from using non-driving factors when determining insurance rates and eligibility. Black and working class neighborhoods regularly face higher auto insurance rates than others based on issues ranging from home ownership status to education level.
This bill is part of Rashida’s broader effort of dismantling systemic racism and building a more equitable and just nation.
