Friend,

Today is the anniversary of the first-ever census in the United States, which was completed on August 2, 1790. While that’s not an anniversary I’ve really appreciated before, it’s a good reminder to celebrate the work we did to put a stop to Trump’s attacks on the 2020 Census. We fought hard for those wins, but we can’t let our guard down.

Trump and his allies made it clear that the citizenship question was entirely designed to silence communities of color, and now that it’s been struck down, they’re looking for other ways to suppress votes. Now more than ever, we need to make sure that we have leaders willing to stand up to the racism coming from the White House.
