John,
Senator Kyrsten Sinema’s ties to the airline industry include $200,000 in contributions - - $54,000 in 2022 alone. Could this have anything to do with her new proposed amendment to the FAA reauthorization bill?
This is the amendment she is co-sponsoring with Republican Senator John Thune, that would permit the airlines to water down their new pilot training - - just as a wave of experienced pilot retirements is about to hit.
Having to choose between the corporate airlines and public safety, Senator Sinema’s loyalties are clearly with the corporations.
Tell the Senate to keep pilot certification requirements strong and the skies safe. Reject the Sinema-Thune amendment to the FAA reauthorization bill!
Airline pilot safety is literally a matter of life and death to those who depend on the airlines, whether traveling for business or pleasure. In the words of Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth, who chairs the aviation safety subcommittee, supporters of the Sinema-Thune amendment could have “blood on your hands.”
Just as the airlines are facing massive retirements of more experienced pilots, they are also seeking to reduce their investments in training for the many more new pilots who will be entering the workforce.
It’s a no-brainer to see that if this amendment takes effect, it will endanger the safety of all air travelers. We don’t want to see the airlines cutting any corners on safety. Yet this is exactly the inevitable impact of the Sinema-Thune amendment.
Sign the petition and urge your Senators to reject this amendment and keep airline travel safe for all travelers!
Thank you for helping to prevent tragic mistakes in the air and save lives!
