Mississippi's First Congressional District is home to the majority of sweet potato farms in our state. I am sure that you have heard that Vardaman is the "Sweet Potato Capital of the World!" Our sweet potato producers have just completed planting. Our Team Kelly members, Semaj Redd and Adam Grubbs, traveled to Topashaw Farms to learn more about their operation and to listen to their thoughts and concerns. Additionally, they toured the Mississippi State Extension Service Research Center in Pontotoc. Many sweet potato farmers are concerned about the Department of Labor's burdensome rules, which impact their labor force of mostly migrant workers. Additionally, inflation and input costs such as fertilizer and diesel fuel are creating hardships for our producers. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I will continue to advocate on behalf of our producers and push for common-sense legislation that will provide them with the support they need to be successful
