Greetings from

Judge Tim O'Hare

It has been an incredible honor to serve as your County Judge over the past six months. The number one constituent concern I have received since stepping into Office this past January are requests for actionable property tax relief. I am pleased to announce this past month the Commissioners Court adopted a 10% Homestead Exemption for both County and Hospital District property taxes. This is a historic measure, which has never been implemented in Tarrant County. This will help lower the property tax bills facing our homeowners and is a big step in the right direction that will provide a lasting impact for years to come.

As we consider the budget and tax rates in the months to come, and as we wait with bated breath for our legislature in Austin to enact property tax reforms, I remain committed to providing Tarrant County property owners with relief and have proposed significant property tax rate cuts.

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court recently voted to appoint Vince Puente to the Tarrant Appraisal District. Vince Puente was previously appointed by Governor Abbott to the Finance Commission of Texas. Mr. Puente will serve as an advocate for taxpayers and is an outstanding choice for Tarrant County.

Tarrant County continues to experience population growth and is currently the 5th fastest growing county in the nation. Coming with that growth are several investments and developments, including the recent expansion announcement at America’s second busiest airport, DFW. As we navigate growth and new opportunity, I will remain steadfast in my dedication to making public safety a top priority in Tarrant County. Increased population density, expanded infrastructure, and a wider range of community needs, all place significant pressure on law enforcement, emergency services, and the judicial system. I will continue to support strategic investments and community reinforcement of our law enforcement professionals and first responders. I will always strive to ensure that Tarrant County is the safest large county in America and hope our commitment to public safety serves as an inspiration that sets a benchmark for excellence in governance.

With sincere gratitude, I thank you for the privilege of serving the residents of Tarrant County. As always, if my office can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to call (817) 884-1441.

Mid Cities Women's Clinic

In the heart of Euless lies a haven of hope and support for expectant mothers and families – Mid Cities Women’s Clinic. Recently, I had the opportunity to tour Mid Cities Women’s Clinic. Their primary mission is to provide essential resources, guidance and compassionate care to women facing unexpected pregnancies. Since 1984, they have provided women’s services to more than 79,000 patients making decisions through unplanned pregnancy.

What sets Mid Cities Women’s Clinic apart is its warm and inviting atmosphere. As soon as you step through their doors, women are greeted by friendly and empathetic staff and volunteers. All services at Mid Cities Women’s Clinic are provided free of charge. They supply information for adoption options and agencies, and help parents to create a plan, educating patients about differences in Open Adoption, Semi-Open Adoption, Closed-Adoption, and birth mother rights.

In addition to offering care and support to women experiencing an unintended pregnancy, Mid Cities Women’s Clinic offers support to relatives of pregnant women who need care, encouragement, education, or resources.

Mid Cities Women’s Clinic offers parenting resources to help individuals decide if parenting is the right choice. They offer birthing and breastfeeding classes, support groups for new parents, couples counseling, referrals for housing, medical services, and food assistance. These resources equip both mothers and fathers with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the journey of raising a child, fostering healthy family dynamics, and encouraging long-term success.

Mid Cities Women’s Clinic recently launched a state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Unit, allowing them to have a greater impact, expanding their reach of bringing quality, confidential services to women in Tarrant County. The Mobile Medical Unit provides pregnancy testing, ultrasound services, and other testing.

Mid Cities Women’s Clinic stands as a shining example of compassion and hope through their unwavering commitment to supporting women and families.

GM Investing $500M+ in Arlington Assembly Plant

On June 8, 2023, General Motors announced a $500,000,000.00 investment in their Arlington Assembly Plant. Since 1954, GM Arlington Assembly has been a fixture in Tarrant County. John Urbanic, Plant Executive Director stated the investment will help the plant “sustain and maintain current staffing levels”. The investment will prepare the plant for production of future internal combustion engine (ICE) full-size SUV’s.

The Arlington plant employs over 5,200 local residents and assembles their largest sport utility vehicles, including the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. GM Financial also employs more than 3,900 additional team members across DFW. Since 2013, GM has invested over $2 billion into the Arlington plant. I recently had the opportunity to tour the GM Arlington Plant. Their skilled team members and robotic arm assembly were incredible to see in motion. My wife, Christen, drives an SUV that was built right here in Arlington. Tarrant County welcomes their continued growth and success.

Texas A&M Breaks Ground on New Fort Worth Campus

Texas A&M University broke ground on a $150,000,000.00 academic building in Fort Worth, the initial phase of a larger four-block development for the University. The first building will house the Texas A&M School of Law. A&M will also construct a Research and Innovation Building and a Gateway Building to house office and meeting spaces, a conference center, and additional classroom space. The law building is scheduled to be completed in 2025 and full completion is targeted for 2027.

John Wayne: An American Experience

Fort Worth is renowned for its rich Western heritage and cowboy culture. It is no surprise that John Wayne: An American Experience selected Fort Worth to open their museum, paying homage to the legend’s deep connection to the region.

As visitors enter the exhibit, they walk past a floor-to-ceiling image of the Duke from the movie Hondo, and are immediately transported back in time to the era of classic Western films. Memorabilia, authentic props, and costumes from Wayne’s movies are on display. Fans get up close and personal with many of the iconic artifacts that defined his acclaimed career.

The exhibition takes visitors through pivotal moments of John Wayne’s life, from his early days as an athlete, playing football for the University of South California, and his rise to stardom and legacy. Through interactive displays, panels, and audiovisual presentations, guests gain a deeper understanding of the man behind the cowboy hat and the impact Wayne left on the film industry and American culture.

Throughout the experience, the impact of John Wayne is celebrated not only through his film career, but also through his values and philanthropic efforts. The exhibit showcases his patriotism, support for our military, and his dedication to charitable causes.

John Wayne: An American Experience is more than just a museum; it is a celebration of the Western genre and enduring influence of John Wayne. Whether you are a die-hard John Wayne enthusiast or simply curious abut the golden age of Western cinema, this is a must-visit destination. History, entertainment, and a touch of Texas hospitality create an immersive tribute to an icon who will forever be remembered as the American cowboy.

I recently took our family to the museum. If you haven’t had the chance, I highly recommend a visit.

Local Hero: Corporal Don Graves

As we enter July, a time when we acknowledge and revere the sacrifice of those who mutually pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to form this nation, it is a fitting time to recognize local Tarrant County resident, Corporal Don Graves.  My staff and I recently had the remarkable opportunity to sit with Corporal Graves and connect with living history, hearing his firsthand accounts of the bravery and sacrifice displayed by the greatest generation and their fight for freedom.

At just 17 years of age, Corporal Graves quit high school to join the Marine Corps in 1942. Originally from Detroit, Corporal Graves felt a calling to join the Marine Corps after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, following in the path of his father, also a Marine. Corporal Graves served in the United States Marines Corps during World War II, and is one of 18 Marines in his unit of 335 that survived the Battle of Iwo Jima. Their orders were to secure the island and its three airfields. Corporal Graves, who served as a flamethrower, arrived on Iwo Jima in the third wave on February 19, 1945, at 8:00 a.m.  It took Corporal Graves and his fellow Marines three days to go 540 feet to Mount Suribachi. The flamethrower that Corporal Graves carried weighed 72 pounds, as he stood at 5-feet-6 inches tall and weighed 145 pounds.

Corporal Graves openly shared about the loss and devastation he experienced during his time on Iwo Jima. “These stories must be shared,” he said. Corporal Graves was nearby when the iconic photo of the raising of the American Flag was taken after the Marines scaled Mount Suribachi.

Soon after the Japanese surrender, Corporal Graves was discharged. Upon returning to Detroit, he met and married his wife and life-long love, Rebecca, who passed away in 2016.  In 1954, after a decade of grappling with the harsh realities of the aguish and trauma of war, Corporal Graves and his wife Rebecca attended a Billy Graham meeting that forever changed their lives. Both Corporal Graves and his wife responded to Billy’s message and were lead on a path to ministry for 32 years.

For his recent 98th birthday, Corporal Graves had the opportunity to travel to Ireland, thanks largely due to a fundraiser organized by those who knew about his lifelong dream. “I have always wanted to go to Ireland, sit in an Irish pub, order a beer, and sing Danny Boy,” remarked Corporal Graves. Meeting Corporal Graves is an experience that leaves a lasting impact on all who have the privilege.

As we approach the celebration of July 4th, I am reminded of the values that our great nation are built upon: freedom, limited government, and the pursuit of a more perfect union. Together, we can continue to strengthen our communities, uphold the principles that make America exceptional, and ensure that the flame of liberty burns brightly for generations to come. Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and joyous Fourth of July. May God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.
