43 million Americans.

With today's decision, that is how many people the right-wing partisan justices on the Supreme Court have condemned to years — sometimes a lifetime — of crushing debt. All thanks to their own corruption.

With a single move, this illegitimate court has transferred $1.6 trillion back onto the shoulders of the working class.

Millions of people across the country who had hopes and aspirations of starting families, buying homes, opening businesses, or simply having a shred of economic security restored to their lives have had the rug pulled out from under them.

It is an outrage, and I'm disappointed at the highest level.

As President Biden said yesterday following the court’s ruling on affirmative action — we cannot let this decision be the last word.

Every last option needs to be on the table to deliver relief and fix this broken court.

That means using the Higher Education Act.

It means enacting Supreme Court term limits.

Passing mandatory ethics rules.

Limiting judicial review.

And yes — expanding the court.

We cannot return to the status quo of mass default and distress. Poll after poll after poll shows that the American people support debt relief for the working and middle class, and believe we should not continue burdening generations of people to a lifetime of crushing debt.

We know that the president has the authority to do this, and that the illegitimate, right-wing majority on the Supreme Court have massively overstepped.

Today's decision cannot be the end of the discussion. This was a promise made to millions of Americans, and we must carry it out. That's why I'm asking:
