June was all about community. Across Washington State, we saw unity in action as we came together to commemorate, celebrate, and campaign against gun violence. Whether by raising awareness through national campaigns, understanding the intersections of systemic injustices, celebrating our diversity, or making our voices heard at the polls, each one of us has a crucial role to play.
Here are a few things we were able to accomplish in June and what we’re looking forward to in July:
1. Who knew Seattle looked so great in orange? Wear Orange Weekend brought together community partners, loved ones, and allies, painting a vivid tableau of our shared commitment to combatting gun violence. Together, we remembered those we've lost and took a collective stride toward eradicating this entirely preventable issue. Thank you for showing how beautifully we shine when we unite against gun violence.
2. This year we commemorated Juneteenth, celebrating freedom while also recognizing the ongoing struggles against systemic injustices. 3. We hope you were able to catch us at the Seattle Pride Parade! Marching alongside so many like-minded community partners, volunteers, and families left us with even more drive and resolve in our ongoing efforts. 4. As we approach the voting season, remember that your voice matters. Stay informed about election deadlines to ensure your vote for gun responsibility counts.
