Press Event and Rally to Demand Action on Extreme Heat

With summer upon us, extreme heat is becoming a danger once again. However, our city is totally unprepared to protect its vulnerable residents. Heat is the deadliest impact of climate change, and it also disproportionately impacts Black New Yorkers. Join us for two events to demand that the City step up and take action:

Virtual Press Briefing
Thursday, July 6 at 12 pm

Join us for the release of WE ACT's 2023 Extreme Heat Agenda where we'll hear from guest speakers and detail our full demands to address extreme heat in New York.

Too Hot to Handle: Rally To Demand Action on Extreme Heat
Thursday, July 13 at 12 pm in City Hall Park

Bring signs and come ready to raise awareness and demand legislative action to improve our city’s ability to adapt to extreme heat and mitigate negative health impacts. Specifically, we'll be calling on the city to codify cooling centers, preserve New York City’s existing tree canopy, set a maximum summer indoor temperature in buildings, and expand green infrastructure pilots.
